What is permanent makeup?
Permanent makeup is a form of cosmetic tattooing that implants pigments into the upper layer of the skin using different techniques. This process is designed to mimic the look of makeup such as eyeliner, eyebrows, and lip blush. The goal of permanent makeup is to enhance your natural features or addresses genetic concerns such as dark lip pigmentation or thin/sparse brows.
Who is suitable for permanent makeup? What are some contraindications?
Permanent makeup can be suitable for a wide range of individuals, particularly those looking to save time on their daily makeup routine or struggle with perfecting their makeup applications. It is also benefictal for anyone with allergies to traditional makeup ingredients.
There are some contraindications that would make permanent makeup less advisable or risky to consider before booking an appointments such as skin conditions (eczema, psoriasis, frequent rashes or blisters), autoimmune disorders, diabetes (slower healing, risk of infection), pregnancy and breastfeeding (risk of infection and side effects of numbing cream or ink ingredients on the baby), keloid or hypertrophic scarring (exeggerated scarring on the area of application), heart conditions and pacemakers, active skin infections or cancer. It is essential to discuss your health history to your artist and doctor if you have any conditions listed above.
How long does permanent makeup lasts?
While called “permanent”, it typically lasts 2-3 years depending on one’s skin type and environmental factors. Touch-ups will be required every 2 years to maintain its appearance.
How long is the procedure?
The average time required for a new permanent makeup procedure is 2-3 hours, and touch-up appointment is 1-2 hours.
What is the healing process like?
Every individual’s healing process can differ slightly. Some swelling and redness can be expected for the first 24 hours following a permanent makeup procedure. It will subside after a maximum of 48 hours. Along with the redness, freshly done work will appear darker and bolder than expected during the first week of healing. This is totally normal, the color will lighten as the scabs flake off and the skin heals.
Client may resume their daily routine after the first week of healing, however, swimming should be avoided if possible to maintain proper color development within the next few weeks.
Is the procedure painful?
There will be minimal pain during permanent makeup procedure. Topical anesthetic will be applied prior to the procedure to minimize pain. However, the level of pain/discomfort can vary greatly from person to person, depending on individual pain tolerance.
Can I get fillers/botox before or after getting permanent makeup done?
Client shoud not get fillers/botox for a month before and after getting permanent makeup done. If you have had fillers or botox done, it is ideally to wait at least 4 weeks for it to settle down before booking your permanent makeup apointment. Same goes with after, the skin will need time to heal before undergoing another procedure.
How does fibroblasts skin tightening work?
Fibroblast Skin-Tightening treatment uses small electric arch to create “burn dots” on the surface of the skin that causes superficial damage to the upper dermal layer of skin and transmits heat to the lower levels of skin. This causes the new skin to generate collagen and elastin fibres that can fade as we age.
How long does the treatment take?
Topical anaesthetic will be applied for 40 minutes to minimize the risk of pain and numb the treated area. The duration of the treatment without numbing is 1-2 hours depends on the treated area.
Is the procedure painful?
Fibroblast-Skin Tightening is a NON-invasive procedure with minimal level of pain. It is virtually painless, as the treated area is numbed before the treatment. After the treatment the treated area might be slightly reddish and some patients may experience some swelling. During the procedure the clients may feel some discomfort, not actual pain, depending on the treated area of the face/body.
How long does it take to heal?
The “carbon crusts” or scabs take 7 to 10 days to fall off with proper aftercare (will be provided by the practitioner). Some minor side affects such as redness, inflammation, or hyperpigmentation might occurs when the scabs fall off, but it will go away as the skin heal within the next 8-12 weeks.
Are the results visible after the treatment?
The results are visible immediately after the treatment, but the maximum results will be visible after 6–8 weeks when the skin enters the third phase of the healing when collagen and connective tissue growth. So, results are visible immediately, but the final results follow after 6–8 weeks after the treatment.
How many treatment would I need?
It depends on the state of the clients’ skin and the desired degree of tightening. Usually 2 sessions are required. Clients are often satisfied after only one treatment if the wrinkles are not very deep, however, two or even three treatments will be needed to achieve a perfect result for deeper wrinkles. The procedure may be repeated after the skin is fully regenerated after 8-12 weeks.
What is scalp micro-pigmentation (SMP)?
SMP is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that involves the application of specialized pigments to the scalp to create the appearance of fuller hair or to camouflage areas of hair loss by replicating the look of natural hair follicles.
What are the benefits of SMP for individuals with hair loss or thinning hair?
SMP can provide a natural-looking solution to hair loss by creating the illusion of a fuller head of hair, boosting self-confidence, and reducing the appearance of bald spots or thinning areas. *SMP does not promote hair growth.*
Is SMP a permanent solution for hair loss?
SMP is considered a semi-permanent solution, as the pigments may fade over time and may require touch-ups every few years to maintain optimal results. The longevity of SMP results varies depending on factors such as skin type, lifestyle, and sun exposure, but it generally lasts for several years (up to 8 years) before touch-ups are needed.
What is the SMP procedure like?
The SMP procedure starts with outlining the hairline (if hairline is involved in the treatment area), then pigment will be customized to best match the client’s hair follicle before getting implanted into the scalp. The number of sessions varies depending on individual needs and goals, but typically, 2 to 4 sessions are recommended for optimal results.
Are there any risks or side effects associated with SMP?
Risks and side effects are minimal but may include temporary redness, swelling, or discomfort at the treatment site but typically subsides quickly.
Who is a good candidate for SMP?
Good candidates for SMP include individuals with hair loss, thinning hair, receding hairlines, alopecia, or those seeking to camouflage scars on the scalp.
Will SMP look natural?
When performed by a skilled SMP specialist, the results of SMP can look incredibly natural, mimicking the appearance of a closely shaved or buzzed hairstyle.
